Spicy Cinnamon and Turmeric, Fat Burnin’ Coffee

So lately I’ve been upping my fat intake, especially in the morning. I’m not kidding when I say it has helped me feel SOOOO much better. I no longer get headaches from my blood sugar crashing before lunch and definitely don’t experience that hangry feeling (ya feel me?), I eat so much less, in fact my grocery bills have even started to decrease! Fatty coffees have been making this adjustment so much easier, I treat them as a meal replacement, they’re often my go to breakfast, and not to mention they’re absolutely delicious. During my last trip to Chicago I found the best little organic coffee shop and juicerey. They had a drink called the “Bulletproof Sludge” and as soon as I took my first sip I knew that this was going to be my next recipe to experiment with when I got home. Not only is it a delicious blend of spicy cinnamon goodness, but the turmeric is known to fight inflammation and the collagen is protein packed and great for both gut and skin health while the fat will keep you feeling full and lunch will be here before you know it! I could go on and on about the list of benefits of the ingredients that make up this delicious drink, I’ll spare you,  but I’m telling you, do yourself a favor and make this for breakfast, like today.

 

Ingredients:

12 oz. organic coffee (My favorites are bulletproof and RoosRoast Lobster Butter)

2 tablespoons Kerrygold unsalted butter

1 tablespoon MTC or coconut oil

2 tablespoons grass-fed organic collagen (I prefer Vital Protiens but Great Lakes is a good brand as well)

1/8 teaspoon Turmeric

1/4 teaspoonn Ceylon Cinnamon*

Pinch of fresh cracked black pepper

Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend for about 30 seconds. Pour in your favorite mug and enjoy!

*regular cinnamon will taste the same, however you can read the benefits of Celylon Cinnamon here
