Why EVERYBODY Needs a Little Moringa in Their Life

Okay. You don’t just need a little, ya need A LOT, alright?

 

I (technically my mom đŸ™‚ ) first came across Moringa when we started going to one of my favorite little local lunch spots, The Moringa Tree Cafe, a few years back. The owner, Jenny Weaver, who is a Naturopathic Doctor (along with many other titles that revolve around the holistic health industry), carries the nutritional powerhouse in her cafe. She not only carries it, but she actually named her entire business after the tree where Moringa Powder comes from. She educated my
mom on the benefits of Moringa and she sent her home with a bag full of the dried leaves in powder form. Long story short, we’ve been taking it ever since!

So what exactly is a Moringa Tree and what are the benefits?

I’ve done quite a bit of research since I’ve started taking Moringa Powder and here’s what I’ve learned so far:

  • Morniga is a a highly nutritious “superfood”. It contains almost everything our body needs, which means its the perfect multi-vitamin!
  • Unlike man made vitamins and supplements, Moringa Powder is consumed in a natural state (the leaves are simply dried and made into a powdered form), therefore it is ready to be used by our bodies. This is unlike vitamins and supplements that are man made.
  • It’s known health benefits are endless and include:
    • High in vitamin A, E, C, calcium, potassium and protein
    • it can help reduce some symptoms of diabetes, protect the liver, and supports brain health!
    • anti-inflamitory
    • antioxidant
    • It can do WONDERS for your skin!
    • It aids in weight loss
    • it can be used as a prenatal vitamin

How do I use Moringa Powder?

When I first started taking Moringa, I took it as a shot, mixed with water, in the mornings. I’ve started to find other, better, ways I like to enjoy it. It’s recommend to consume 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per day.

  • I mix it in my morning coffee – see a detailed recipe of how I do this below!
    • I got this idea from the Moringa Tree Cafe, where they serve a similar version. I’ve never tried it there since I only drink coffee first thing in the morning, but I thought it was a great idea, so I whipped up my own little concoction at home!
  • I sprinkle it into my smoothies
  • I mix it in my face masks several times a week! Due to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties it makes a great ingredient for your skin! Obviously, consuming it will do wonders for your skin, but why not make it a double whammy and apply it topically as well?! – LOOK FOR A POST IN YOUR INBOX OF HOW I DO THIS VERY, VERY, SOON!

The Moringa BulletProof


Ingredients

  • 12oz organic coffee – I’ve been using Zero Doubt Cold Brew and heating it up on the stove. I’ve recently been introduced to the health benefits of drinking cold brew rather than traditional coffee, that’s for another day, but if you’re interested, it’s something you should really look into!
  • 2 TBS grass-fed butter
  • 1 TBS coconut oil or MCT oil
  • 2 TBS grass-fed collagen protein – I prefer Great Lakes (in the green can) or Vital Proteins brands**
  • 1/2 – 1t Moringa Powder*

Method: 

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend for 1 minute. Pour into your favorite coffee mug and enjoy :).

 

**PSA: The type of collagen you use DOES effect the taste, texture of the coffee. This is why I prefer the two brands I suggested above, which are tasteless and textureless. You will not notice them and they add protein to your coffee as well as gut and skin healing benefits!

    This is great! I love the Moringa Tree! And I recently purchased Moringa tea from there to try out!! Now I want to try the coffee concoction! I also just got my MCT oil and was considering getting the collagen too! Thanks Holly!
